From sprawling adventure parks to unforgettable wildlife experiences, it’s no wonder Orlando is known as “The Theme Park Capital of the World.” Home to several of the world’s most famous attractions, it’s easy to see why the area draws millions of visitors year after year. With so much on offer, we’ve put together a guide to some of Orlando’s top theme parks for an adventure-filled family holiday.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort

Just 45 minutes from Orlando, you’ll find plenty to keep under 12s busy at Legoland’s 150 acre theme park. Boasting over 50 rides and a 5 acre water park, children can drive their own LEGO car or become captain of their own LEGO boat at LEGO city. The fun doesn’t stop there, fans of the Lego films will be delighted by one of the park’s newest attractions, “The LEGO Movie 4D A New Adventure,” which combines the blockbuster’s heroes with 3D computer animation and real-world effects. Visitors can play all day or stay overnight at the five-storey, 152-room Legoland Hotel packed with LEGO themed surprises around every corner.

Magic Kingdom Park

Much-loved characters come to life at the very first of the four theme parks to open at Walt Disney World Resort. Disney fans of all ages will delight in iconic attractions, exhilarating rides and magical parades. Enchanting experiences await at the park’s six lands, from the old-time wild west of Frontierland, the big thrills of Splash Mountain, the flight of Dumbo’s Flying Elephants and ending with spectacular fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle.

Universal’s Islands of Adventure

Step into the world of comic book heroes, movie icons and storybook characters as you take a journey through each themed island. Come face to face with prehistoric dinosaurs as you raft along the Jurassic Park River Adventure, ride the high-speed Dragon Challenge at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Hogsmeade, fly over city streets on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man or make a splash with your favourite cartoon characters at Toon Lagoon.

Universal Studios Florida

Discover what goes on behind-the-scenes of your favourite movies and TV shows or hop onto electrifying rides that put you right at the heart of the action. This working film and TV production facility plays host to a myriad of rides, shows, movie sets and memorable attractions from the sights, sounds and shops of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley to the twists and turns of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. Battle beside Optimus Prime on TRANSFORMERS: The Ride–3D or take a trip to Springfield and join The Simpsons as they visit Krustyland.

Discovery Cove

Swim with bottlenose dolphins, snorkel through a saltwater reef or feed exotic birds at this resort-like park. Breath-taking animal encounters meet laidback relaxation within the cove’s rocky lagoons, tropical reefs and winding rivers. Take a dip in the resort-style pool complete with waterfalls and white sandy beaches. Reservations are required with only 1,300 guests permitted each day for a more intimate experience. As it’s all-inclusive, you’ll receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch, unlimited snacks and drinks throughout the day along with free equipment rentals and a souvenir snorkel.
