The first route British Airways will fly with its new A380 “superjumbo” aircraft will be the ‘Red Carpet Route’, between London and Los Angeles, the airline has announced. Following on from this, the new aircraft will fly on their second route, between London and Hong Kong.

British Airways will be receiving the first of their new Airbus A380s from manufacturer, Airbus in July, with the first commercially available flights on sale now for the 15th October 2013.

Launching the routes BA, accompanied by London-based actress, Gemma Arterton, the airline confirmed that they were now taking bookings for flights on the A380 to Los Angeles from 15th October and to Hong Kong a month later on the 15th of November. They also said that they would announce the date for the aircraft’s inaugural flight in due course, once the schedule for training flights had been confirmed.

Aterton said: “Working in film means that I spend a lot of time travelling around the world, often to Hollywood. It’s essential to arrive feeling fresh and ready for the day ahead, as I often hit the ground running, and I prefer to travel in style with British Airways. It’s very exciting that the A380 will be flying to Los Angeles. I think the red carpet route will be very popular.”

To celebrate the launch, BA has also created offers for flights to LA and Hong Kong. Return fares on the ‘Red Carpet Route’ will start from £499 in World Traveller (economy class), with a £380 upgrade available for passengers wishing to fly in World Traveller Plus. Club World return fares will be from £3,800 for two people.
