Its the sunshine, I dont know about the dodgy guy with the big ears dressed up a mouse though; He lost his charm when I was about 6 years old.

I’ve been a few times and my very favourite thing is always the firework show at the end of the night at Magic Kingdom. Gorgeous fireworks and everyone tired but happy at the end of a fun filled day just sums up the whole Disney feeling.

It makes me smile when you see the faces of the young children entering Disney for the first time and look so excited…

Great places to stay – Hawthorn Suites, Lake Buena Vista or Doubletree at Entrance to Universal. Both excellent locations. Hawthorn slightly has the edge for me as it’s on a quiet road which makes driving to all the theme parks so easy. Turkey Lake Road means you don’t have to use the clogged I4 :)

Tip – share one lunch between two in the parks. The portions are so huge, a sandwich, salad and some fruit shared will fill you up and save you money!

My tip for enjoying the theme parks of Orlando would be to visit at off peak times, as the queues and the prices are significantly reduced, whilst increasing the overall experience.
For example if you visit the theme parks in the weeks after New Year, the waiting times are from 0-15minutes a ride, yet all the Christmas decorations are still up! How wonderful :)

We try to go to Florida every year if we can. Looking forward to going in February – not long to wait now!! :-)
My tip is to go with an empty suitcase and shop for your clothes, etc when you get there. We save up all the money we would normally spend on clothes throughout the year and we have a big splurge once a year in the outlets in Florida. We literally go with about 2 days’ worth of clothes as everything is so cheap over there. We do like shopping though!! :-)
Another tip is not to be shy about using coupons over there. We hardly ever pay full price at shops, restaurants, etc by using the coupons found in the booklets all over the place or available to print off online.
If you can go out of season it really is worth it. We have tried November, December (before Christmas), January and February and we have found early Feb best. The weather is just picking up nicely (it can be quite cold in December/January) and it’s nice and quiet (avoid any US holidays though). We have done Easter and Christmas/New Year and we won’t be doing that again in a hurry!! Busy just doesn’t do it justice! :-(
If you are going during the basketball season try and catch a game in Orlando watching the Orlando Magic. Even if you aren’t into basketball it is a great evening/afternoon out. They have a lovely new stadium and it’s really easy to get to on I4. The area around is pedestrianised and has some nice bars and restaurants. It is very close to Church Street Station too.
Oh and another – if you are going to/from Universal and are using International Drive it can get quite busy. Just after the Convention Centre there is a turn off for Universal Boulevard which comes out just after Wet & Wild and takes you on to Universal Studios. Use that and you will cut out the traffic congestion.
For anyone who is going – have a magical time!
